Soccer: Same trip awaits Guyer, Denton

If the Denton Broncos, Guyer Wildcats and Guyer Lady Wildcats are to advance in the playoffs, they will have to win at Wichita Falls’ Memorial Stadium.

It begins today for the Denton boys when they face Wichita Falls Hirschi at 4 p.m. in the Class 4A Region I area round. The Broncos (9-8-5), the second-seeded team from District 11-4A, are fresh off a 2-0 victory over Saginaw on Tuesday night in the bi-district round.

Hirschi had a first-round bye after finishing second in District 9-4A.

On Friday, Guyer’s boys and girls will be in action. The Lady Wildcats, the defending Class 4A champions, will meet Hirschi at 4 p.m. The Lady Wildcats (15-2-3) scored a 4-0 victory over Azle on Tuesday in the bi-district round, while Hirschi had a bye.

The Guyer boys will take the field at 6 p.m. against the Wichita Falls Coyotes (12-6-3), the 9-4A champions. Guyer, the third seed out of 11-4A, advanced to the area round with a 5-1 rout of Aledo on Tuesday night.

Wichita Falls had a first-round bye. Guyer (10-11-2) suffered a 1-0 loss to Wichita Falls to open the season.
