Denton pushed visiting Prosper to a tiebreaker in the third set, but the Lady Broncos couldn’t break through, falling in straight sets 25-21, 25-17, 31-29 on Tuesday night.
Junior co-captain and outside hitter Jade Akins led Denton with eight kills while senior outside hitter Mariah Warren added five. Junior co-captain and setter Hannah Altman helped lead the offense with 16 assists.
The loss drops the Lady Broncos to 5-6 on the season as they head into the Frisco tournament on Thursday.
Guyer d. Keller Fossil Ridge
KELLER — Guyer’s Emily Hill provided the necessary offensive lift for the Lady Wildcats as her 16 kills helped secure a 25-19, 25-17, 20-25, 25-15 victory over Keller Fossil Ridge.
Tabitha Spray had a hitting percentage of .429 with eight kills on 14 attempts, while Sydney Reyes added eight kills on 22 attempts for a .273 hitting percentage for Guyer.
The victory improves Guyer to 9-6 on the season. The Lady Wildcats (9-6) next play in the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Tournament in Argyle on Thursday.
Melissa d. Aubrey
MELISSA — Coming off Saturday’s Prosper tournament, the Aubrey Lady Chaparrals fell to Melissa 25-13, 25-19, 25-16.
Alex Martinez and Paige Bisi each had three kills for Aubrey, while Martinez added seven assists, an ace and a block.
The Lady Chaparrals fell to 5-11, and their next game comes Thursday at the Whitesboro Tournament.
Ponder d. St. Jo
PONDER — The Ponder Lady Lions defeated St. Jo Lady Panthers in straight sets 25-15, 25-10, 25-15, with Tori Alexander leading the way with eight kills to go along with three blocks and three block assists.
Bailey Brown also added four kills, three blocks and two block assists, while Kaylee Buell helped with three kills and a block.
Defensively for Ponder, Ashley Reames had six digs and Shelby Melvin had five. Sage Stover dished out 16 assists, while Meredith Vedral controlled play with five aces.
Sanger d. Whitesboro
WHITESBORO — The Sanger Lady Indians faltered in their first set against Whitesboro, falling 15-25, but they rallied to win the final trio of sets in convincing fashion 25-8, 25-15, 25-12.
Kayla Askey flourished with 17 kills and three blocks, while Jay Pegues added nine kills and Morgan Trukoly recorded seven aces. With the victory, the Lady Indians move to 9-4 on the season.
The Lady Indians’ next game is at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Guyer.
Little Elm d. Pilot Point
PILOT POINT — Pilot Point fought Little Elm tough to a fifth set, but they couldn’t edge the Lady Lobos, falling 25-18, 21-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-11.
With the loss, the Lady Bearcats fall to 7-5 on the season.
Pilot Point’s next game is at 5 p.m. Friday at home against Bonham.
