Cross country: Sanger’s Mills wins 5,000-meter run

Sanger’s Josh Mills finished first overall in the varsity boys 5,000-meter run at the Ken Garland/Northwest High School Invitational at North Texas on Saturday.

Mills finished with a time of 16:59.18, while teammate Josh Rainey finished third in 17:11.34. As a team, Sanger finished second with a score of 104. Keller Timber Creek had five runners finish inside the top 11 spots and won with a score of 36.

Liberty Christian’s Jackson Fountain came in fourth at 17:16.65, while teammate Caleb Allison, came in fifth at 17:24.18.

In the Elite Varsity Girls 5,000 run, Ryan freshman Kate Soltero bettered a school-record she set earlier this year and finished fifth overall at 19:44.62. The next area athlete to finish was Sanger’s Audrey Springer. Springer crossed the finish line in 20:18.18.
