Dallas Madison at Argyle

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Eagle Stadium

Records: Dallas Madison (2-3), Argyle (5-0)

What’s on the line: Argyle, No. 2 in the Associated Press Class 3A poll, rolled past yet another opponent last week with its 52-12 win over Wilmer-Hutchins. The Eagles played without starting quarterback Brandon Boyzuick, who was injured the previous week, but used do-it-all Texas Tech pledge Ian Sadler under center as well as Cooper Rodgers. Running back Nick Ralston had a second consecutive big game after missing time with injury.

Frisco Lone Star at Sanger

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Indian Stadium

Records: Frisco Lone Star (5-0), Sanger (3-2)

What’s on the line: Sanger has won three straight games to snap a 14-game skid that dated to 2011, so the Indians have gained some confidence. That is thanks in large part to new running back Tre’von Jackson, who has scored 13 touchdowns over the three-game winning streak. But if Sanger really wants to get back on the map, a win over Frisco Lone Star would do it. The Rangers have scored at least 48 points in four of their five games.

Burkburnett at Krum

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Bobcat Stadium

Records: Krum (2-3), Burkburnett (2-3)

What’s on the line: Krum will be looking to bounce back from a loss to Wichita Falls Hirschi and gain some momentum going into next week’s District 9-3A opener against Bridgeport. The Bobcats face a Burkburnett team that’s coming off wins against Bridgeport and Mineral Wells. It should be a good indicator of how difficult Krum‘s journey back to the playoffs might be. Krum’s Ian Concepcion rushed for for 140 yards last week.

Fort Worth Trinity Valley at Aubrey

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Chaparral Stadium

Record: Fort Worth Trinity Valley (2-3), Aubrey (1-4)

What’s on the line: Aubrey is going through a rough stretch, having lost three straight games to nearby schools. The Chaparrals will try to reverse their momentum a week before they open District 10-3A play against Frisco Lone Star. Fort Worth Trinity Valley is coming off a blowout loss to Houston Christian and, like Aubrey, will be looking to rebound after a loss. It could come down to how productive Aubrey’s offense is.

Boyd at Pilot Point

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Massey Stadium

Records: Boyd (1-4), Pilot Point (3-2)

What’s on the line: The Bearcats got an important 20-17 win against last season’s District 5-2A champion, Callisburg, and they’ll have a chance to keep that rolling against Boyd, which got its first win of the season with a 42-34 overtime decision over Bowie. Dual-threat junior quarterback Travis Garrett led the Bearcats with 111 yards rushing while passing for 165 yards.

Boyd player to watch: RB Fino Cardona

Pilot Point player to watch: QB Travis Garrett

Ponder at Bowie

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Jackrabbit Stadium

Records: Ponder (2-3), Bowie (2-3)

What’s on the line: The Ponder Lions will look to get on the scoreboard after getting shut out 49-0 by Whitesboro in their District 5-2A opener, while the Jackrabbits lost last week in overtime to district rival Boyd. These teams sport the same overall and district records, so today’s matchup will be crucial in the playoff hunt.

Ponder player to watch: QB Trey Dunlap

Bowie player to watch: QB Garland McCoy
