DALLAS — The Guyer Lady Wildcats improved to 5-0 on the season with a 51-27 victory over Dallas Pinkston on Friday.

Lauren Heard and Sarah Mack combined to outscore Pinkston themselves, totaling 14 points apiece.

Guyer plays at Gainesville at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Argyle advances to title game

BURLESON — The Argyle girls defeated Waco Midway 44-32 and Manfield Legacy 57-32 to advance to the championship game of the Burleson Centennial tournament, set for 2 p.m. today.

In the first game, Delaney Sain and Madison Ralston led the Lady Eagles with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Against Legacy, it was Sain again leading the offensive charge, this time finishing with 20 points. Vivian Gray added 14 and Jesse Sheridan had 10.

Argyle connected on 22 of 26 free throws against Legacy, going 10-of-11 in the second half.

SOUTHLAKE — Trailing by just four points at halftime, the Denton Broncos were outscored 31-12 by Southlake Carroll in the third quarter of their season-opening loss on Friday.

Adrian Harris was the lone double-digit scorer for Denton, netting 18 points.

The Broncos (0-1) will host McKinney North at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Warriors win twice

PONDER — Stephen Ugochukwu led Liberty Christian in scoring in each of its two wins on the day to fuel the Warriors to the Ponder tournament final, set for 8:30 tonight against the host Ponder Lions.

Ugochukwu scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, in wins over Howe (58-35) and Bridgeport (59-48). Taylor McCarley added 12 points for the Warriors (4-4) against Howe, while Jacob Link scored 15 against Bridegport.

Ponder splits pair

PONDER — After falling short 50-46 to Bridgeport in its first game of the day, Ponder’s boys rebounded for a 62-49 win over Decatur to reach the Ponder tournament final.

Ponder also defeated North Crowley’s JV 81-54 and Lubbock Trinity Christian 76-69 late Thursday night.

The Lions (4-1) were led by Clay Morgan with 17 points and Brady Anderson with 13 in the loss to Bridgeport. Morgan scored 25 while Josh Peterson had 11 in the victory over Decatur.
