Basketball roundup: Falcons nip Azle for second 5-4A victory

LAKE DALLAS — Josh Jackson poured in a game-best 26 points and the Lake Dallas boys defeated Azle 56-53 for their second District 5-4A win.

The Falcons (9-11, 2-5 district) will play host Denton to at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

PONDER — Clay Morgan scored 22 points and Chase Harris added 20 as the Lions ran away with a District 9-2A win over Boyd.

Brady Anderson also had 10 assists for Ponder (19-7, 5-1 district), which held a 25-point lead at halftime.

Ponder plays at Brock at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Jimmy Chism added 16 points, and Austin Stride scored 10 for the Unicorns (11-2, 4-0 TAPPS Division I District 2), who play North Central Texas Academy at home at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Ashley Hayes scored 13 points and Taylor Davis added 11 for the Lady Falcons (7-13, 3-6 District 5-4A), who play host to Denton at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

ARGYLE — Liberty Christian grabbed an early double-digit lead and rode it to a blowout win over Fort Worth Trinity Christian.

Rebekah Hand led the Lady Warriors (16-8, 3-2 TAPPS Division V District 1) with 19 points, followed by Rachel Rainwater with 14 and Alexis Abbott with 12.

Liberty Christian will play at Nolan Catholic at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Jacy Beam topped Sanger (11-15) with 15 points, while Carissa Spiker scored 10.

The Lady Indians will play at home against Gainesville at 6 p.m. Friday.
