CALLISBURG -- Ponder had no problems against Callisburg in District 9-3A play Friday, and the Lions took home an 8-1 win on the road.
Ponder pitcher Shane Scott was nearly untouchable, retiring the first 13 batters before allowing a single in the bottom of the fifth. Scott lost his shutout in the sixth, but the run was unearned after an error. Scott allowed two hits while racking up 13 strikeouts.
It was the second consecutive strong outing for Scott, who allowed one hit and struck out eight in a 10-0 shutout of Sadler S&S Consolidated last week.
Jacob Summerlin led the way with two RBIs. Jack Dow and Brady Brockett combined to go 4-for-7 with two RBIs, while Ben Rodgers, Payton Smith and Clayton Hicks each drove in a run.
