Softball/baseball roundup: Bridges tosses no-hitter, Krum rolls

DECATUR -- Krum had no issues getting things going at the plate while pitcher Tristan Bridges recorded a no-hitter to help the Lady Bobcats cruise past Decatur 13-0 Tuesday night.

Bridges also tallied nine strikeouts while completely dominating the Decatur lineup at the plate. She allowed only two walks, giving the Lady Eagles their only base runners of the game.

At the plate, Krum totaled 15 hits while having no trouble getting runs across the plate. Regan Smith led the way with three RBIs, while Kelsie Roberts and Morgan Sebastian drove in two runs each. In addition to her no-hitter, Bridges went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double.

Krum will take on Argyle at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Argyle 6, Bridgeport 4

ARGYLE -- Argyle fell behind by three early but used a two-run third inning and a three-run sixth to pull ahead and win.

The Lady Eagles were outhit but were able to string together hits and runs when it mattered most down the stretch. Lauren Kraus threw a complete game, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits while striking out three. She held Bridgeport scoreless after the third inning, allowing Argyle to complete its comeback.

Marley Straubmueller led the way at the plate with 3 RBIs while Sam Aring drove in two runs. Tori Burke had two doubles and an RBI in the win.

The Lady Eagles will take on Krum at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Guyer 6, McKinney Boyd 1

MCKINNEY -- Pitcher Ashleigh McDurmon threw a complete game while allowing only two hits to lead Guyer.

McDurmon allowed only one run on those two hits and totaled five strikeouts to keep McKinney Boyd subdued for the majority of the night. Guyer jumped out to a two-run lead in the first inning and slowly extended the gap before McKinney Boyd finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh.

Morgan Medford was 3-for-3 at the plate while scoring three runs, and Sylvia Murillo drove in three runs while hitting 2-for-4.

The Lady Wildcats will take on Plano West at 7 p.m. Friday.

Argyle 11, Bridgeport 2

ARGYLE -- Argyle scored four runs in the first inning and added seven more in the third in a commanding win.

The Eagles had no trouble jumping on Bridgeport and outhit the Bulls 10-5. Brett Lundy held Bridgeport in check while allowing only two runs in 4 1/3 innings before Bryson Hudgens and Dayne Galligan combined to throw 2 2/3 hitless innings. Lundy racked up seven strikeouts as the starter.

Connor Mushinski was dominant at the plate, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the game. Dillon Carter followed with two RBIs and two runs scored while Ford Uranga, Caleb Halvorson and Seth Green each drove in a run.

Argyle will take on Krum at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

McKinney Boyd 4, Guyer 1

MCKINNEY -- After scoring a run in the first inning, Guyer was held in check as McKinney Boyd came back to win.

The Wildcats managed only four hits while McKinney Boyd racked up nine. Cade Branum got the start on the mound and allowed all four runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings of work before Bryson Casmir came in to get the final out of the sixth.

Leadoff hitter Garrett Ozmer started the game with a double before coming around to score Guyer's only run in the game. Connor Herriage, Jordan Beminio and Luke Piper were the only other players to get a hit for the Wildcats.

Guyer will take on McKinney Boyd again at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
