Though results won't be made official until July 3, Argyle High School appears to have won its sixth straight UIL Lone Star Cup. This is the eighth year overall that Argyle has won the award.
The Lone Star Cup is awarded each year to six high schools, one in each classification. Schools gain points through victories in academics, fine arts and athletics. The winning schools receive a trophy and a $1,000 scholarship.
Argyle sat atop Class 4A with 128 points when the UIL released its updated standings on June 16. The next closest school is Abilene Wylie, which has 92 points. Liberty Hill has 78 points.
Per the UIL, standings will become final July 3.
Argyle's 128 points happens to be the highest point accumulation of any district in any conference this year. The second highest is Conroe The Woodlands' 121 points in Class 6A. Only four schools scored more than 100 points.
