Volleyball roundup: Guyer drops two, Aubrey gets second at Denison Tournament

Guyer dropped both of its matches Saturday despite 28 assists from Angel Felan. The Lady Wildcats lost to Lovejoy in three sets before falling to Boswell, 25-22, 25-20. 

Brooke Slusser and Rachel Tullos paced Guyer with eight kills each, while Ciara Brown led the way with 14 digs on the day.

The Lady Wildcats fell to 13-5 on the season and return to action against Ryan on Tuesday. 

Aubrey loses in championship match

Aubrey made a run in the championship bracket of the Denison Tournament but came up just short, falling to the hosts in the final, 25-11, 25-23.

The Lady Chaps improved to 8-8 on the season. Kaia Saylor and Katherine Knight led the way in kills with 15 and 17 kills, respectively, as Aubrey swept Bonham 25-10, 25-16 and North Lamar 25-18, 25-18 to reach the final.

Aubrey returns home to face Pilot Point on Tuesday.

Ryan sweeps through three matches

Ryan had a perfect day on the court, winning all six of its sets as it swept three schools.

The Lady Raiders beat Denton 25-22, 25-15, Fossil Ridge 25-22, 25-17, and Hereford 25-21, 25-20 to move to 11-7 on the season ahead of Tuesday's clash against Guyer. 

Taylor Terry recorded 32 kills on the day, and Taylor Brann eclipsed 20 assists in each match.

Denton takes two of three

The Lady Broncos scratched out two three-set wins and got swept by Ryan to improve to 5-12 on the season.

Denton knocked off Cedar Hill 13-25, 25-22, 25-10 and College Station 24-26, 27-25, 25-22 before the loss to the Lady Raiders.

Maria Martin and Sydney Soto shined against College Station. Both players recorded 28 digs in the win.

Denton returns to action with a match on Friday, August 25 at Sanger. 

Pilot point drops two matches, tops Pottsboro

Pilot Point picked up its second win of the season by beating Pottsboro in three sets at the Denison Tournament. 

The Lady Bearcats couldn't keep that momentum going, however, and they lost to Valley View 25-19, 25-21 and Whitewright 25-22, 25-18 to round out the day. 

Pilot Point (2-11) will return to action Tuesday at Aubrey.
