Football: Game Changers

Below are the Denton Record-Chronicle High School Football Game Changers for Week 1: 

Jon Copeland, QB, Argyle
Copeland, a transfer from Liberty Christian, was named offensive MVP while throwing for 269 yards and three touchdowns in Argyle's 42-21 win over Lovejoy. He also ran for a score. Copeland's three touchdown passes went for 41, 12 and 12 yards to three different receivers.

De'Ray Darthard, S, Guyer
Darthard had himself a monster game on defense while intercepting two passes and returning one for a 36-yard touchdown in Guyer's 37-21 win over Mansfield Lake Ridge. Darthard also had three solo tackles and three assists as Guyer held Lake Ridge scoreless after the first quarter.

Spencer Sanders, QB, Ryan
Sanders was unstoppable while racking up 313 passing yards and 174 rushing yards while accounting for six touchdowns in Ryan's 57-40 win over Lancaster. Four of Sanders' six scores came in the first half.

Andre Washington, RB, Liberty Christian
Washington piled up the most yards of any running back in the Denton area with 163 on 20 carries in Liberty Christian's 21-14 win over Melissa. He scored on touchdown runs of 51 and 37 yards, with his second coming in the fourth quarter. 

Austin McCallion, DL, Aubrey
McCallion was all over the field in Aubrey's 44-0 win over Bowie. The junior defensive lineman racked up 11 tackles, one for loss, with two sacks and a quarterback pressure. He led a defense that forced three turnovers.

Kaedric Cobbs, RB, Guyer -- 20 carries, 116 yards, 2 touchdowns.
Rondarius McGarr, LB, Ryan -- 7 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery, 1 TD, 2-pt INT.
Chase Petter, LB, Argyle -- 13 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 sack.
Jacob Pitts, QB, Pilot Point -- 20 carries, 137 yards, 1 TD, 4-for-6 passing, 100 yards.
