DENISON — With Taylor Terry and Taylor Brann leading the way, the defending District 5-5A champion Ryan Lady Raiders opened their league campaign with a 25-13, 25-15, 28-26 sweep of the Denison Lady Jackets on Friday.
Terry had one ace, 15 kills, one assist and 17 digs, while Brann had one ace, four kills, three blocks, 30 assists and nine digs. Ashley Schroeder contributed 10 kills and seven digs. Kenzi Valdez had two aces and 26 digs, Krystal Barringer had three kills and four digs, Nicole Schroeder had two aces and 16 digs and Sarah Grant finished with five kills and four digs.
Ryan (19-11, 1-0 district) will host Wichita Falls Rider on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Lake Dallas d. Carrollton Creekview
CORINTH — The Lake Dallas Lady Falcons rode the strong play of Bailey Dolezalek, Bailey Avila and Kasey Bortnem as they opened District 14-5A play with a sweep of Carrollton Creekview, 25-13, 25-17, 25-12.
Dolezalek had 16 kills and 14 digs, Avila had 19 digs and Bortnem finished with 45 assists and 15 digs.
Lake Dallas will continue district play Tuesday when it hosts Carrollton R.L. Turner.
Argyle d. Melissa
MELISSA — The Argyle Lady Eagles had to battle through five grueling sets before pulling out a 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 18-25, 15-9 victory over the Melissa Lady Cardinals.
Danielle Davis led the way for the Lady Eagles (13-14) with 15 digs, three blocks and 10 kills. Mariah Hesslegesser had four blocks, 12 kills and two aces. Kiley Lavelle had nine kills and five blocks, and Kassidy Reeves had 18 digs, 36 assists and two aces.
Keller will visit Argyle on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
McKinney Boyd d. Guyer
The Guyer Lady Wildcats, off to one of their best starts in years, were shocked in their District 6-6A opener as McKinney Boyd swept Guyer 27-25, 25-23, 25-21.
The No. 16 Lady Wildcats will be at home Tuesday to play McKinney.
Sanger d. Aubrey
AUBREY — The Sanger Lady Indians got solid play from Kaela Wilkerson, Gabbi Roelofs and Mya Afflerbach as they defeated the Aubrey Lady Chaparrals 25-21, 21-25, 25-12, 25-18.
Wilkerson had 13 kills, Roelofs had four aces and 12 kills and Afflerbach had seven aces and five kills.
Laney Roos led Sanger with 16 digs while Kaia Saylor had 14 digs, five blocks and 17 kills. Katherine Knight had 14 digs and 27 assists. Gillian Kister had nine kills and two aces.
Sanger doesn't play again until Friday when it travels to Celina. Peaster will visit Aubrey on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Ponder d. Pilot Point
PILOT POINT — The Ponder Lady Lions, who made a deep run in the playoffs last season, opened District 9-3A play with a 25-12, 25-19, 25-15 sweep of Pilot Point .
Meagan Cope led the Lady Lions (13-14, 1-0) with 10 digs and seven kills, while Sadie Dearing had nine digs, 11 assists, four aces and six kills. Sterling Wilkinson had eight kills and three aces and Carolina Hicks had six kills. Averee Tipton led Ponder with 17 assists.
Ponder travels to Pottsboro on Tuesday while Gunter plays at Pilot Point.
