Volleyball roundup: Aubrey heads into district play on high note

GAINESVILLE — The Aubrey Lady Chaps were able to get back on their feet just before district play  with a dominant 25-8, 25-14, 25-16 win against Gainesville.

Leading the charge was Katherine Knight with her 29 assists. Giving her a hand was Kaia Saylor, who had 17 kills on the night.

Aubrey (13-16) will open up district play Friday when it travels to take on Celina at 4:30 p.m.

Argyle d. Princeton

PRINCETON — Argyle made quick work of Princeton Tuesday night, taking care of the Lady Panthers in three sets, 25-12, 25-13, 25-18.

Alyssa Wallace had a good game offensively and defensively with five aces and 13 digs.

The Lady Eagles (14-15) will play next at Sanger at 5 p.m. Friday.

Ponder d. Whitesboro

PONDER — After a close first three sets, the girls of Ponder High were able to pull away in the fourth set and beat Whitesboro 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-10.

Averee Tipton's 41 assists made for a huge impact for the Lady Lions. 

Ponder (15-15, 3-1) will host Red River at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Sanger d. Melissa

SANGER — The Sanger Lady Indians rallied from as first set loss to defeat the Melissa Lady Cardinals 22-25, 25-20, 27-25, 25-17 in their final tuneup before opening District 9-4A play Friday night.

Sydney Price led the lady Indians with 15 kills and 2 1/2 blocks while Gabbi Roelofs had 14 kills and four aces. Kenzie Turkoly had six kills, three aces and 39 assists while Mady Jacobs had seven kills and nine aces and Kaela Wilkerson finished with eight kills, one ace and one block.

Sanger will host Argyle in the 9-4A opener Friday

Allen d. Guyer

ALLEN — Nothing seemed to go right for Guyer as Allen won this one-sided matchup 25-11, 25-11, 25-12.

The Lady Wildcats (24-9, 2-2) will host Plano at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Liberty Christian d. Dallas Ursuline Academy

DALLAS — Liberty Christian capped off a close five-set victory against Dallas Ursuline Academy, 25-22, 18-25, 19-25, 25-18, 15-13.

Liberty Christian was led by three dominating performances. Ella Marr had 17 kills with 10 digs, Kiley Goodrum had 16 kills with 12 digs and Sabrina Simms pitched in 11 kills and 18 digs.

The Lady Warriors will host Dallas Bishop Lynch at 6 p.m. Thursday.
