Volleyball roundup: Sanger dominates Gainesville

SANGER — Sanger continued its solid start to District 9-4A play with a dominating win over Gainesville, 25-16, 25-8, 25-5 on Tuesday.

 The Lady Indians were led by Kenzie Turkoly's 27 assists and four aces and Sydney Price's 12 kills and two blocks. Kaela Wilkerson helped out in the victory with her seven kills and six aces.

Sanger (16-15, 3-1 district) will travel to take on Krum at 5 p.m. Friday.

McKinney Boyd d. Guyer

McKINNEY -- The girls of Guyer High had no answer for McKinney Boyd, as the Lady Broncos took care of the Lady Wildcats in three sets, 25-16, 25-19, 25-12.

Guyer (27-10, 5-3 district) will try to bounce back in District 6-6A play Friday night when they go back to McKinney — this time to face the McKinney Lady Lions at 5:30 p.m.

Ponder d. Pilot Point

PONDER — The Lady Lions of Ponder defeated Pilot Point 25-11, 25-14, 25-17. 

 Averee Tipton continued to lead Ponder's strong start in District 9-3A with her 40 assists in the matchup. Sadie Dearing also contributed in the win with her nine digs, seven kills and two aces. 

 Next up for Ponder (18-16, 5-2) is a  home match Friday against Pottsboro at 4:30 p.m.

Aubrey d. Anna 

AUBREY — The Aubrey Lady Chaps wasted no time at all against Anna, topping the Lady Coyotes 25-7, 25-13, 25-12. 

Aubrey's Kaia Saylor had another big match, putting up 18 kills and nine digs. Katherine Knight was also a key factor with 31 assists for the offense. 

Aubrey (16-18, 3-1) will hit the road Friday and battle it out with Princeton in more District 11-4A action at 5:30 p.m. 

Wichita Falls Rider  d. Braswell

LITTLE ELM — Braswell failed to get much momentum going as they fell to the girls of Wichita Falls Rider 25-11, 21-25, 25-16, 25-18.

Putting in a strong defensive performance for the Lady Bengals was Maddi Brown with her 22 assists.

Braswell will  continue District 5-5A play and host Denton at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Argyle d. Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT — Argyle was able to even its District 9-4A record with a 25-12, 25-12, 25-21 road victory over Bridgeport.

 The Lady Eagles (16-17, 2-2) now look forward to hosting Decatur at 5 p.m. Friday.
