Volleyball roundup: Krum continues big season, remains undefeated in District 9-4A

BRIDGEPORT — The Krum Lady Bobcats are showing no sign of slowing down in District 9-4A, picking up yet another three-set victory Friday night with a 25-11, 25-12, 25-11 over the Bridgeport Sissies.

Krum was led by sisters Miranda and Madeline Guffy, who tied for a team-high 16 assists. Rhett Robinson had a team-high 19 kills and 15 digs, while Reese Robinson was right behind her with 13 kills and 10 digs.

The Lady Bobcats (31-8, 7-0) are in sole possession of first place in District 9-4A and head back to their own gym Tuesday night and host Argyle at 6 p.m.

Aubrey d. Bonham

AUBREY — The Aubrey Lady Chaps continued their impressive run in District 11-4A with a dominating three-set victory over Bonham, 25-10, 25-10, 25-18.

Katherine Knight continued to stay hot and lead the offense with 35 assists, three aces and one block. Kaia Saylor had a great game both offensively and defensively, finishing with 19 kills and 17 digs.

Aubrey (18-19, 5-2) will now prepare to travel to take on Melissa at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Argyle d. Gainesville

ARGYLE — The Argyle Lady Eagles had no problem at all getting past Gainesville Friday night, cruising to a three-set win, 25-5, 25-7, 25-18. 

Argyle was led by Kassidy Reeves' 28 assists and Mariah Hesslegesser's 11 kills and two blocks.

The Lady Eagles (19-17, 5-2) now sit alone in second place in District 9-4A and will continue action when they travel to face Krum at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Pottsboro d. Pilot Point

POTTSBORO — Things looked well for the Pilot Point Lady Bearcats after the first, but then they failed to get anything else going, dropping the next three as Pottsboro took the game, 21-25, 25-15, 25- 17, 25-20.

Even though the team came up short, Brooke Lane put up a great defensive effort, leading her team with 23 digs.

The struggling Lady Bearcats are now 1-9 in District 9-3A and will now prepare to host Callisburg at 7 p.m Tuesday night.

Lake Dallas d. McKinney North

CORINTH — Lake Dallas wasted no time getting past the girls of McKinney North, topping them in three-sets, 25-17, 25-10, 25-21.

Kasey Bortnem took control of the offense, leading the team with 41 assists. Her big targets on the night were Bailey Dolezalek with 17 kills and Mallory Kilngele with 14 kills.

Lake Dallas currently is 8-3 in District 14-5A and will stay at home Friday as they host Prosper at 6:30 p.m.

Allen d. Guyer

A good start to the match from the Guyer Lady Wildcats was spoiled by the girls of Allen High. Despite winning the first set, Guyer couldn't keep it going and fell to the Lady Eagles in four sets, 21-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-15. 

Fighting hard for the Lady Wildcats were Kate Cowan with her 23 digs and Jordyn Williams with her 11 kills and three blocks.

Guyer (29-11, 7-4) will travel to battle Plano at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. 

Decatur d. Sanger

DECATUR — Sanger got momentum on its side early with a 10-point victory in the first set, but failed to do anything with it as Decatur bounced up and took the next three to win, 15-25, 25-15, 25-21, 26-24. 

The Lady Indians' comeback attempt was led by Kenzie Turkoly's 36 assists and 9 kills. Sydney Price had a great effort as well, leading her team with 13 kills. 

Sanger (18-18, 3-4) falls to under .500 in District 9-4A. They'll look to bounce back against Bridgeport at home at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. 

Ponder d. Whitesboro

WHITESBORO — It was a battle that came down to the final set, but the girls of Ponder High fought hard to steal one on the road from Whitesboro in five sets, 24-26, 25-21, 17-25, 25-22, 15-11. 

Plenty of Lady Lions were in on the offense tonight, but Bailey Frenette led the team with 30 assists, while Caroline Hicks and Meagan Cope tied for the team-high in kills with 10 each. Cope also led the team with 24 digs. 

Ponder (20-17, 7-3) gets this Tuesday off before continuing District 9-3A play at home against S&S Consolidated at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Ryan d. Sherman

SHERMAN -- Ashley Schroeder had 15 kills, 19 digs and three blocks and the Ryan Lady Raiders rolled to a four-set 25-18, 18-25, 25-19, 25-19 victory over the Sherman Lady Bearcats.

Kannessia Holbert had seven kills and five digs, Kenzie Valadez had one ace and 38 digs, Nicole Schroeder had 16 digs and one ace, Sarah Grant had 10 kills and six digs, Tsaylor Terry had 16 kills, one ace and 17 digs and Taylor Brann had three aces, 54 assists, three kills and 21 digs as Ryan improved to 26-12 for the season and 8-1 in 5-5A play.
