Volleyball roundup: Guyer drops second straight match

PLANO — Guyer suffered its second consecutive loss in District 6-6A, this time falling in three sets to Plano, 25-21, 25-17, 25-21.

The loss drops the Lady Wildcats to 7-4 in district play and 29-11 overall. They'll look to get back on the right track when they travel to take on Wylie at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Sanger d. Bridgeport

SANGER — Sanger bounced back from Friday night's loss with a sweep against Bridgeport, 25-18, 25-22, 25-20.

Kaela Wilkerson's eight aces and seven kills and Gabbi Roelofs 10 kills led the offensive charge for the Lady Indians. 

Sanger (19-18, 4-4) evens up their District 9-4A record and will travel to take on Gainesville at 5 p.m. Friday night.

Prosper d. Lake Dallas

CORINTH — Lake Dallas struggled to compete with  Prosper, who is undefeated in District 14-5A play. Prosper took this one in three sets, 25-15, 25-17, 25-14.

Kacey Bortnem and Mallory Klingele put up a strong fight in the loss; Bortnem collected 18 assists and Klingele has 12 digs and five kills.

The Lady Falcons are now 8-4 in district play and will look to bounce back on the road when they travel to face The Colony at 5:30 p.m Friday. 

Melissa d. Aubrey

MELISSA — Aubrey fought hard to keep the first two sets close, but it just couldn't find a lead against Melissa, who came out on top, 25-22, 26-24, 25-16.

Kaia Saylor's 15 digs, 11 kills and one block led the fight for the Lady Chaps.

Aubrey (19-19, 5-3) will continue District 11-4A play Friday when it travels to play Anna at 4:30 p.m.

Callisburg d. Pilot Point

PILOT POINT — Things don't seem to be getting any brighter for Pilot Point as it failed to get any type of offense going against Callisburg, who won this one with ease, 25-8, 25-13, 25-8.

Brooke Lane led her team on defense with 13 digs in the losing effort.

Pilot Point is now 1-10 in District 9-3A and will host Whitesboro at 4 p.m, Friday.

Liberty Christian d. Trinity Christian

ADDISON -- The Liberty Christian Lady Warriors rallied after a first set loss to defeat Trinity Christian 20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-17.

Sabrina Simms led the Lady Warriors with 14 kills, five aces and 10 digs. Kaleigh Couch had 10 kills, Taylor Scalzi had 35 assists and two aces and Sailor Jostes had 12 digs.

Liberty Christian will be back in action on Thursday night when it host Ursuline.
