AUBREY — Caddo Mills knew exactly what Aubrey was going to do Friday night, but it didn't matter. It still couldn't stop the Chaparrals.

Aubrey's potent running game, led by Spencer Neumann and Brody Bounds, accounted for 378 of the Chaparral's 449 yards of offense on their way to a 40-20 District 5-4A win against the Foxes.

Neumann rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns, and Bounds added 125 yards and two scores for Aubrey (7-1, 3-0 District 5-4A) in a game it rushed the ball 51 times. Taylor Swarbrick completed one of his three pass attempts, but it went for 71 yards and a score.

Aubrey now faces a pivotal showdown with district rival Melissa next week.

Cade Hayden paced Caddo Mills (3-5, 0-3), rushing for 134 yards and a touchdown and throwing for 81 yards and another score. The Foxes finished with 275 yards of offense.

Aubrey scored on its first four possessions as it mounted nearly 300 yards of offense in the first half. Neumann rushed for 93 yards on 14 carries and scored three times, and Swarbrick's 71-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Brown helped Aubrey to a 26-12 lead at intermission.

Caddo Mills cut the deficit to four when Hayden scored on a 34-yard run with 7:51 left in the third quarter.

Bounds countered for Aubrey on a 7-yard run with 3:55 left in the third to push its lead to 33-20.

The Chaparrals then made a defensive stop to seal the victory. Hayden drove the Foxes to the Aubrey 10 early in the fourth quarter. A holding penalty on first-and-goal moved the ball back to the 20. Hayden lost a yard, threw incomplete passes on the next two downs and was sacked for a 7-yard loss on fourth down.

Bounds followed with a 10-yard touchdown run with 7:04 left to close out the scoring for Aubrey.

Aubrey set the tone from start, using its potent and balanced run game. The Chaparrals marched 53 yards on eight plays, all runs, with Neumann finishing the drive from 4 yards out.

Caddo Mills answered, needing only four plays as Hayden found Payton Hammons over the middle from 38 yards out.

The Chaparrals then scored on three straight possessions. Brown's 71-yard touchdown reception was followed by two scoring runs by Neumann, one from 12 yards and the second from 1 yard out, to give Aubrey a 26-6 lead with 4:07 left in the first half.

The Foxes added a late score when Hammons ran in from 14 yards out.
