Basketball roundup: Schluter's 27 points propel Ponder by Ranchview

PONDER -- Ponder's Tye Schluter scored 27 points and the Lions used a 30-point second quarter to pull away for a lopsided 81-54 win over Carrollton Ranchview on Tuesday.

Ponder held a 16-12 lead after the first quarter before outscoring Ranchview 30-9 in the second to take a 46-21 halftime advantage.

Following Schluter in scoring were Dean Akins with 14, Rylan Waldo with 13 and Trent Akins with 11 as Ponder improved to 3-1.

Ponder will host Krum on Tuesday.

ARGYLE -- The Argyle Eagles used a balanced scoring attack over four quarters to gradually pull away from the Kennedale Wildcats and improve to 3-0.

Argyle used two 16-point quarters in the first half to build a 32-25 lead and widened the gap in the third quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 18-11 for a 50-36 lead.

Argyle's Maxwell Valentino led all scorers with 19 points while Brandon White added 16.

Argyle will play host to Saginaw Boswell on Tuesday.

BRIDGEPORT -- The Aubrey Chaparrals rallied from a four-point deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 47, then outscored the Bridgeport Bulls 14-5 in overtime to remain unbeaten.

Kaleb Wright led the scoring for the Chaps (3-0) with 19 points while Ethan Wooley added 11 and Hayden Smith finished with nine.

Whitesboro will visit Aubrey on Tuesday.

In a battle of two evenly match teams, the Lake Dallas Falcons pulled out a two-point victory over the Braswell Bengals.

Lake Dallas opened up a 16-12 first-quarter lead before the Bengals narrowed the gap to 31-30 at halftime. The Falcons led 49-47 after three quarters and traded Braswell basket-for-basket in the final eight minutes.

Austin Shepard led the Falcons (1-1) with 20 points, Manny Brown added 17 and Pat Richardson finished with 12. 

Brandon Barlow paced the Braswell scorers with 19 and Kiran Anderson had 11.

Lake Dallas will play host to Saginaw on Tuesday while Braswell visits Gainesville.

LITTLE ELM — The Braswell Lady Bengals had one of their better offensive and defensive showings of the young season with a 49-point victory over the Alvord Lady Bulldogs.

Braswell (3-4) raced out to a 38-13 advantage at halftime and outscored the visitors 33-10 in the second half.

Tiarah Starks led the Lady Bengals with 12 points, Kaiya Turner followed with 11 and Jayln Bonds finished with 10.

Braswell will return from the Thanksgiving break Tuesday to face Frisco Independence.

FORT WORTH -- The Ryan Lady Raiders were outscored 36-21 in the first half and could not overcome that in their loss to Keller Timber Creek.

Ryan (3-5) trailed 16-9 after the first eight minutes before Timber Creek went on a 20-12 second-quarter run to take the commanding halftime lead.

Tija Burns led the Lady Raiders with 12 points and Kannessis Holbert had 10.

Next action for Ryan will be in the Cowtown Classic on Nov. 30.

SANGER -- The Sanger Lady Indians capitalized on their pressing defense and totally overwhelmed the Nevada Community Lady Braves.

With Community struggling against the Sanger press, the Lady Indians pulled out to a 24-9 first-quarter lead and held a 42-12 halftime advantage to improve their record to 7-3.

Tatum Whitewood led Sanger in scoring with 13, Maci Turkoly had 11 and Chloe Malone and Allye Morrow had nine apiece.

Sanger will be off until Tuesday when it hosts Hebron.

AUBREY -- The Aubrey Lady Chaparrals got 19 points from Kathimae Dow, used a strong defensive effort and took advantage of multiple Bells turnovers to take the victory.

The Lady Chaps (4-2) built a 18-8 first-quarter lead and held a 31-24 halftime lead.

Kaia Saylor added nine points for the Lady Chaps and MacKenzi Spaulding had eight.

Whitesboro visits Aubrey on Tuesday.

PILOT POINT -- The Pilot Point Lady Cats used a strong defensive effort to hold the Bonham Lady Warriors to single-digit scoring in each quarter to score a 19-point victory and their first win of the season.

The Lady Cats (1-3) opened with a 13-7 first-quarter lead and increased it to 21-8 at halftime.

Christine Billmeier led the Pilot Point scoring with 11 while Debria Bailey added 10.

The Lady Cats will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Dodd City.

ARGYLE -- Behind the 21-point effort of Rhyle McKinney, the Argyle Lady Eagles totally dominated the Little Elm Lady Lobos to improve to 5-2.

The game was over quick, as Argyle raced out to a 18-5 first-quarter lead and held a 43-8 advantage at intermission.

Gabby Standifer scored 14 for the Lady Eagles and Morgan Yarbrough added 13.

Argyle travels to Colleyville Heritage on Tuesday.

Jamie Means, finishing with 14 points, and Alex Bradley, with 12, led the Lady Bronco rally.

PONDER -- The Ponder Lady Lions, behind the scoring of Kaia Williams, Kelly Akins and Kylie Green, broke open a tight game in the second half to pull away for a victory over the Boyd Lady Jackets.

Ponder led 38-32 at halftime before outscoring Boyd 38-22 in the second half. 

Williams finished the game as the leading scorer with 19 points while Akins and Green each had 18. Jessica Simpson added 12.

Era visits Ponder next Tuesday.
