Softball roundup: Billmeier's 13 strikeouts lead Lady Cats over Callisburg

CALLISBURG — The Pilot Point Lady Cats kicked off District 9-3A competition with a tight 2-1 win over Callisburg on Tuesday. 

The Lady Cats collected two hits — from Brooke Lane and Bailey Stewart. Christine Billmeier tossed a complete game, allowing two hits and striking out 13 batters in the victory. 

Pilot Point will head back home to host Whitesboro at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Lake Dallas 14, Carrollton Newman Smith 13

CORINTH — The Lake Dallas Lady Falcons opened District 14-5A action with an offensive thriller against Carrollton Newman Smith. 

Lake Dallas scored nine runs in the fifth after being down 10-4 to come back and take the lead. The Lady Falcons then posted a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh.

Aubrey Meyers and Taylor Bragg each doubled twice in the victory. Alexus Hazelwood added a two-bagger of her own. 

Lake Dallas will step out of district play for the weekend and compete in the Gainesville tournament starting Thursday.
