Football: Sadler, Ralston shine as Argyle wins 56-0

ARGYLE — Argyle couldn’t have been much sharper after a week off, cruising to a 56-0 victory over Carrollton Ranchview Friday night in the Eagles’ District 10-3A opener.

The Eagles (6-1, 1-0 10-3A) had three offensive players with big nights.

Wide receiver Ian Sadler finished the night with 255 total yards. He caught six passes for 180 yards, including an 89-yard fly route for a touchdown late in the second quarter. Sadler added 75 yards on four rushes, with touchdown runs of 1 and 35 yards.

Running back Nick Ralston led an attack that gained 291 rushing yards and scored six touchdowns. Ralston had 18 carries for 123 yards and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Brandon Boyzuick had perhaps his best game this season, going 13 of 17 for 292 yards and two TDs.

Argyle’s offense set the tone for the contest by building a 35-0 lead and scoring on five of its first six drives.

The Eagles’ defense was just as impressive. They held Ranchview (1-7, 0-2) to 194 total yards and forced a pair of turnovers, including a Reese Thompson interception. But Argyle flew to the football all night. They clogged the middle of the field and used their lateral speed to cut off outside rushing lanes. It seemed that every time Ranchview put together a positive play, the Eagles countered.

In the first half, Argyle forced a fumble and a change of possession at its own 11, which led to the Sadler touchdown reception. In the fourth quarter, Ranchview to the Eagles’ 1-foot line and had three chances to score. Argyle stood the Wolves up all three times.

Nearly one-third of Ranchview’s plays from scrimmage went for negative yardage. The Eagles chased quarterback Keidrien Wadley all night, forcing him into a 9-of-20 performance for 133 yards. He also had 14 rushes for only 7 yards.

The only negative for Argyle was penalties. The Eagles committed 12 for 120 yards, including several personal fouls.

Argyle travels to Frisco Lone Star on Friday.
