ARGYLE — In a battle between Texas High School Baseball’s No. 4-ranked Argyle and No. 9-ranked West Trojans, the Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings on their way to a 6-1 victory at home in the season opener.
Davis Coghlan led the Argyle attack, going 2 for 3 with a triple while Landon Rogers and Dylan Harp each went 2 for 3 with a double.
Drew Gooch, who was 6-2 with a 2.47 ERA in last year’s 23-8 season for Argyle, struck out six while allowing only four hits and one walk in five innings pitched to earn the victory.
