Football: Aubrey’s offense struggles in loss

POTTSBORO — The Aubrey Chaparrals struggled offensively in their season opener Friday, falling to the Pottsboro Cardinals 20-9.

Aubrey could muster only a 29-yard field goal by Evan Moore in the first half, then scored in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by quarterback Mason Robinson.

Robinson finished 7-of-15 passing for 113 yards with an interception. The Chaparrals (0-1) were led by Daniel Longhenly on the ground with 91 yards.

Thad Flynn scored on two touchdown runs in the second quarter, and Pottsboro quarterback Hunter Mullenix hit Korey Waller for a 52-yard score in the fourth to seal the victory.

Aubrey will next play at home against Anna at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
