The Calvary Lions, behind the play of James Helzer, wrapped up a TAPPS state playoff berth on Monday with a 53-39 win over Texoma Christian. Helzer was dominate on both ends of the floor as he scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds and had three blocks to pace the Calvary (19-17) attack. Blake Nelson followed Helzer in scoring with 10 while Kieshun Cuchens and Brandon Eaton finished with seven each.

Tennis: Crouch falls in match vs. top seed

A day before Monday’s Class 5A regional tournament at McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, with uncertainty of not knowing who he would play, Will Crouch joked to his hitting partner about being matched against the top-seeded player out of Everman in the first round.
