IRVING — Denton Calvary Academy quarterback Justin Rush completed only six passes during Saturday afternoon’s game with Irving Universal Academy but four of those completions went for touchdowns as Calvary rolled to a 47-0 victory.
Rush, a junior, hit on 6 of 9 attempts for 111 yards and had scoring tosses to Zach Elder, Joe Autwell, Drew White and Joseph Peters. The Lions jumped out to a 12-0 first quarter lead before scoring 21 second-quarter points to take a 33-0 lead at halftime.
Running back Matt Hood led the Calvary rushing attack with 65 yards on five carries and scored once, while Brandon Eaton had two carries for 26 yards and also scored.
The Lions, after losing their first two games of the season, have now won three straight for a 3-2 record heading into this week’s district opener against Greenville Christian on Friday night at Bronco Field.
