WATAUGA — The Denton Calvary Academy Lions saw their four-game win streak come to a halt Friday night as the Watauga Harvest Christian Saints rallied from an early deficit to take a 58-51 victory.
Calvary led 6-0 after the first quarter, but the Saints outscored Calvary 50-31 in the second and third quarters and that was just too much to for the Lions (4-3) to overcome.
Calvary quarterback Justin Rush was 10-of-17 passing for 149 yards and four touchdowns but also had two passes picked off. He also picked up 58 yards rushing on five carries and scored once.
Senior running back Jessie Wells caught two of those passes for touchdowns and led the rushing attack with 80 yards on five carries scored once on the ground.
Matt Hood had 57 yards rushing on 10 carries and caught five passes for 61 yards and scored twice for Calvary.
Joseph Peters had three receptions for 50 yards, two of those going for touchdowns.
Calvary will try to rebound from this loss when it travels to Dallas Covenant next Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
