Roman Mitchell, Lake Dallas, football
With Lake Dallas needing a win to keep its playoff hopes alive, Mitchell stepped up and electrified a Falcons’ offense that had struggled recently. Mitchell had only nine carries but rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns. He also forced two fumbles and recovered one.
Domenic Pickering, Guyer, football
Pickering, a first-year starter on the defensive line, is showing why he was missed earlier in the season after suffering a hip injury. The tackle led the Wildcats’ effort up front in a shutout win over Wichita Falls. He had four tackles — all behind the line — a sack and recovered a fumble.
Nick Ralston, Argyle, football
Ralston played a big role in keeping Argyle’s eight-game winning streak alive by rushing for 213 yards on only 16 carries and scored two touchdowns in Argyle’s 54-6 win over Aubrey. He also made his presence felt in the Eagles’ passing game as his one reception went 25 yards for another score.
Ian Sadler, Argyle, football
Sadler continued his stellar season Friday night by scoring five touchdowns on only eight touches. Sadler had three carries and scored on all of them. He had two catches and scored on a 25-yarder. Then he had three punt returns, bringing one back 60 yards to the end zone.
Travis White, Krum, football
Though Krum lost to Gainesville in the battle for the District 9-3A title, White had a spectacular game defensively and almost helped Krum cap an undefeated regular season. White had 18 tackles, two interceptions and recovered a Gainesville fumble in the end zone for a touchdown.
