Running back Adam Taylor and defensive lineman Matt Dimon, who led Katy to a Class 5A state championship, top the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 5A all-state team announced Friday.
Taylor, who has signed with Nebraska, rushed for 2,755 yards and 44 touchdowns and had 276 yards and five touchdowns in the Division II final against Cedar Hill. Taylor was named the offensive player of the year on the all-state team.
Dimon, who has signed with Oklahoma, was named defensive player of the year after recording 29 tackles for losses and 53 quarterback pressures during the season.
Five Ryan Raiders received honorable mention: offensive tackle Matt Griffin, kicker Marc Orozco, defensive linemen Nolan Robinson and J.T. Williams and defensive back Reynal Caldwell.
