Ke’Von Buris, Denton, WR
The Broncos put together a rout of Fort Worth Western Hills on Friday night to improve to 2-1, and it was all set off by a momentum-shifting special teams play by Buris, who returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown to give Denton an early 14-0 lead. He added a touchdown reception just before half.
Thomas Ferguson, Guyer, DE
The senior led a stellar defensive effort in Guyer’s win over run-heavy Flower Mound Marcus, holding the Marauders to 37 yards on 31 carries. Ferguson was a key figure in the dominant effort, racking up 17 tackles with five coming behind the line of scrimmage to go with a sack.
Maurice Gordon, Ryan, RB
The Raiders weren’t in danger of losing Friday’s game, but Gordon made sure to ice the game early in the fourth quarter. On Ryan’s first snap of the quarter, Gordon scored on a 75-yard run to seal Ryan’s victory. He finished with 131 yards on 12 carries.
Josh Jackson, Lake Dallas, WR
The Iowa pledge put up huge numbers once again, as he caught six balls for 133 yards and three touchdowns — all in the first half of the Falcons’ win over Carrollton Newman Smith as they improved to 3-0 on the season. Jackson scored on completions of 43, 15 and 38 yards from quarterback Dagan Haehn.
Tre’von Jackson, Sanger, RB
The Indians needed to snap a 14-game losing skid dating back to 2011, and Jackson came through with the biggest individual performance for Sanger in recent memory. The junior rushed for 259 yards on 23 carries and accounted for six touchdowns in Sanger’s rout of Pilot Point.
