Basketball roundup: Lady Eagles surge past Pilot Point

PILOT POINT - Argyle secured a 31-15 halftime advantage and held off Pilot Point, 58-48, in the regular-season finale for both teams on Thursday.

Madison Eschle scored 14 points and Barbara-Scott Kolb added 11 for the Lady Eagles (20-10, 7-3), who will play Anna in the bi-district round of the playoffs on Monday in Little Elm.

Abby Watson had a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds to pace Pilot Point (5-23, 2-8).

AUBREY - Aubrey wrapped up the regular season by limiting Whitesboro to 10 first-half points in a victory.

Kaitlin Brown led the Lady Chaparrals (21-10, 8-2) with 14 points while Presley Stastny added 10.

Aubrey will face Commerce in the bi-district round of the Class 3A playoffs next week at a time and site to be determined.

PONDER - Madison Stout and Jessica Sprabeary had 18 points apiece as Ponder pulled away to beat Nocona in its final regular-season game.

Brooke Sanders added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Emily Liberto tallied 11 points for the Lady Lions (30-4, 11-1).

Ponder finished in a tie with Alvord for the District 9-2A title. The two teams will have a tiebreaker game for the top playoff seed in the district at 5 p.m. Saturday in Sanger.

Dontonio Jordan scored nine points to pace the Falcons (4-21, 1-9), who fell behind 68-24 after three quarters.
