Basketball roundup: Johnson, Mohair lead Ryan to victory

WICHITA FALLS - Ryan improved its record to 17-10 overall and 7-3 in district play after a 52-41 win over Wichita Falls on Friday.

Sam Johnson and Trey Mohair had 19 points each to lead the Raider offense.

Argyle 39, Pilot Point 27

ARGYLE - Argyle remained perfect in district play after a 39-27 win over Pilot Point.

Argyle (21-7, 7-0) was led by Andrew Resch, who had 10 points, while Connor York and Clarke Overlander had nine points apiece.

Aaron Buckingham scored 14 points for Pilot Point.

Ponder 54, Wichita Falls City View 47

PONDER - Ponder got 18 points out of Dalton Brown in a 54-47 win over Wichita Falls City View.

Clay Morgan scored 10 points for Ponder (18-13, 7-2). Jon Sidler and Tanner Yeager had eight and seven points, respectively.

Gainesville 47, Sanger 45

GAINESVILLE - Sanger scored 17 points in the fourth quarter, including three 3-pointers by Joe Doles, but it wasn't enough as the Indians lost 47-45 at Gainesville.

Doles tied the game with a 3-pointer with 11 seconds remaining, but the Leopards scored the game-winning bucket with six seconds left.

It was Doles' first game back since he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in December. He led the Indians with nine points.

Krum 58, Holliday 50

HOLLIDAY - Zack Hughes scored 26 points to help Krum defeat Holliday 58-50.

Krum (25-6, 9-0) could clinch the District 9-2A title Tuesday with a win over Ponder.

Kyle Mankin added eight points, while Taylor Troth pitched in seven.

Argyle 44, Pilot Point 28

ARGYLE - Argyle had three players in double figures to handle Pilot Point 44-28.

Allea Harris paced the Argyle (16-14, 8-1) offense with 16 points. Delaney Sain scored 14 points, while Jesse Sheridan added 11.

Pilot Point (15-16, 1-8) was led by Callie Barrett, who scored 11 points in the loss.

Ponder 66, Wichita Falls City View 43

PONDER - Ponder (23-11, 7-4) had a strong offensive night in a 66-43 win over Wichita Falls City View.

Jessica Sprabeary had a double-double, scoring 23 points and dishing out 10 assists. Madison Stout scored 17 points with seven rebounds. Ashley Peterson rounded out the top scorers with 16 points.

Krum 58, Holliday 33

HOLLIDAY - Rachel Wallace scored a game-high 23 points and had five steals to lead Krum (28-2, 10-1) over Holliday 58-33.

Sydney Shelstead added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Bobcats.

Krum, tied with Alvord atop the District 9-2A standings, will play its final district game against rival Ponder on Tuesday.
