Golf: Lady Broncos win district title

THACKERVILLE, Okla. — The Denton Lady Broncos won the girls District 4-4A golf championship at WinStar Resort.

After playing 18 holes Monday, Denton played nine holes Tuesday before the tournament was called by the UIL due to bad weather.

The Lady Broncos won with a score of 505, 29 shots over runner-up Wichita Falls. Denton had an 18-stroke lead over Wichita Falls and a 29-stroke lead over Ryder heading into Tuesday’s play.

Payton Andress, Stephanie Swenson, Stephanie Mobley, Lindsey Heal were all named to the all-district team for the Lady Broncos. Jill Jordan was also part of Denton’s district-winning team.

Denton will head to Abilene for the regional tournament.
