POTTSBORO – It was a clean sweep for the Argyle boys and girls golf teams on Monday as they claimed the District 9-3A golf championships at Tanglewood Country Club.
Argyle also grabbed the four top spots in the boys individual play.
Argyle took first and second place in the boys division as the varsity squad posted a two-round total of 627 to claim the district title while the Argyle junior varsity overtook Whitesboro to finish second with a two-round total of 673.
The Lady Eagles posted a two round total of 979 to claim first place while Sanger finished second with a 1,034 total and Pilot Point was third at 1,147.
Argyle’s Blake Lyle also claimed the 9-3A medalist honor after shooting 75-75 – 150 while teammate Hunter Thompson finished second with a 79-77 – 156 total.Colton Katzen was third at 80-80 – 160 and Lance Roden was fourth at 82-79 – 161. Rounding out the scores for Argyle were Jack Graham and Dyland Gumbert at 167, Landan Gumbert at 168, Nick Louy at 172,John M. David at 175, Grayson Stinson at 177, Austin Stoops at 183 and Matt Garnett at 204.
Valerie Evans led the Argyle girls team with a third place finish overall with a two-round total of 215. Jesse Sheridan was fourth at 244, Leyton Kind was sixth at 255. Also playing were Delaney Sain, Kim Strelke, Laurie Beth Chalk and Erica Nelson.
Argyle will return to Tanglewood on April 16-17 for the regional golf tournament.
