TEMPLE — Liberty Christian sophomore Javier Manrique duplicated his first-day score at the TAPPS Class 5A state tournament Tuesday, shooting a 1-over par 73 to finish the two-day event at 2-over 146, good for third place at Wildflower Country Club.
Manrique finished six strokes back of champion Will Zalatoris of Trinity Christian Academy-Addison. Zalatoris also shot a 73 and finished at 4-under 140. The silver medal went to San Antonio Antonian’s Alessandro Bissaro, who had a two-day total of 2-under 142.
Manrique had one birdie Tuesday along with two bogeys — hitting 13 greens in regulation and 14 fairways — but his putter gave him problems as he totaled 34 putts on the day.
