Volleyball roundup: Host Byron Nelson sweeps Guyer

TROPHY CLUB — Guyer fell to 2-2 in District 5-4A play after losing to Trophy Club Byron Nelson 25-8, 25-23, 25-18 on Tuesday night.

Jasmine Montemayor recorded seven kills for the Lady Wildcats (15-12), while Mikayla Yates had six.


Calvary d. Abilene Christian

The Calvary Lady Lions won in three sets, beating Abilene Christian 25-11, 25-13, 25-16 to improve to 3-0 in TAPPS 1-2A.

Kelley Crow led Denton Calvary (18-5) with 15 digs and four aces and Anna Hollingshead added 10 digs and seven kills.

Cory Grant recorded eight kills and eight digs, while Peyton Stewart had 17 assists for Calvary.

“I was really proud of the girls; they played really consistently,” Calvary head coach Jennifer Bramlett said.


Argyle d. Garland

GARLAND — Katy Keenan had 12 kills and two service aces to lead the Lady Eagles to a sweep, winning 25-8, 25-20, 26-12.

Blair O’Brien recorded 34 assists and five digs, while Laine Lowry had 16 digs and Brooke Robertson had nine kills for the Lady Eagles (21-9).

Argyle will play at Celina Friday to start district play.


Plano John Paul II d. Liberty Christian

ARGYLE — The Lady Warriors fell to Plano John Paul II in three sets — 25-12, 26-24, 26-12 — to fall to 1-3 in TAPPS District 5-A.

Olivia Asprey led the Liberty (15-13) with 10 assists, six kills and three aces, while Alli Eager recorded four kills.

“We were struggling in our confidence after losing both of our starting middles — Sara Martinson and Hanna Elsey,” Liberty head coach Kimberly Weaver said.


Wichita Falls Rider d. Lake Dallas

WICHITA FALLS — The Lady Falcons lost to Rider 25-20, 25-17, 26-24 and fell to 1-3 in District 5-4A.

Keegan Gossett led Lake Dallas (20-6) with 16 digs, five kills and one ace. Megan Turner recorded 17 digs and two kills while Amanda Edwards had 15 digs.

“Defensively, we were phenomenal,” Lake Dallas head coach Heather Van Noy said. “I was really proud to see the girls apply what we’ve been teaching them. Now, we just have to catch the offense up.”


Hockaday d. Pilot Point

HOCKADAY — The Lady Cats fell to Hockaday in four sets, losing the nondistrict match by scores of 25-12, 26-24, 21-25, 25-23 to drop to 20-6 on the season.
