Volleyball roundup: Host Lady Falcons sweep Denton

CORINTH — The Lake Dallas Lady Falcons picked up their third District 5-4A win of the season Friday night, beating Denton 27-25, 25-19, 25-22. Both Denton and Lake Dallas are now 3-4 in district play.

Meagan Dando led the Lady Falcons (12-20) with 13 kills, 10 digs, three aces and three blocks, while Keegan Gossett recorded 14 digs, five kills and two blocks.

“The girls really played together tonight, they were resilient and wouldn’t give up,” Lake Dallas coach Heather Van Noy said. “I’m very proud.”

Jade Akins led the Lady Broncos (17-15) with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Kenzie Dozier had five kills.

“We just didn’t show up tonight,” Denton head coach Danielle Silva said. “We played with no heart. We have dug ourselves into a hole and only we can decide if we will continue on this pattern or turn it around for the second round of district.”


Guyer d. Azle

Guyer defeated Azle in three sets, 25-19, 25-21, 25-14.

Mikayla Yates recorded 11 kills followed by Jasmine Montemayor’s seven. Emily Gorr had 11 kills, while Montemayor had eight digs.


Pilot Point d. Leonard

PILOT POINT — Pilot Point remained undefeated in district play by defeating Leonard 25-16, 25-15, 25-9. The Lady Cats are now 6-0 in District 12-2A and 23-6 on the season.

Andrea Campbell led the Lady Cats with 12 digs, 10 kills, and two blocks. Feliciana Reed recorded 31 assists and nine digs, while Ashton Ritchie had six kills and three blocks. Kirby Smith finished with 12 kills.


Celina d. Aubrey

AUBREY — The Aubrey Lady Chaparrals saw their record slip to 0-3 in District 10-3A play Friday night after losing to the Celina Lady Bobcats 25-21, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18.

Kelsey Scribner led the Lady Chaparrals (14-15) with 11 kills, seven digs and two blocks while Maggie McCullough had seven kills and seven blocks. Kenzie Sanders had 24 digs.

Aubrey is now 14-15 for the season.


Ponder d. Boyd

PONDER — Meredith Vedral led the Lady Lions to a 25-6, 25-19, 25-13 victory over Boyd with six service aces.

Kaylee McDaniel recorded seven kills for Ponder, while Katie Esterer had six kills. Defensively, Jocelyn Chilson led the Lady Lions with eight digs and Bianca Hernandez had six. Erin Summerlin recorded 10 assists.


Argyle d. Frisco Lone Star

FRISCO — Katy Keenan had 12 kills to lead Argyle past Frisco Lone Star 25-11, 22-25, 25-13, 25-18.

Keenan also added three digs and one ace, while Brooke Robertson had 12 kills and four digs. Sierra James recorded 11 digs, nine digs and one ace. Blair O’Brien ended the night with 40 assists, 12 digs and two kills.
