Basketball roundup: Bell upends Guyer

Zack Duncan scored 18 points, but Guyer came up short in a 65-59 loss to Hurst L.D. Bell on Tuesday night.

Josh Jordan added 14 points for the Wildcats (1-1), while Miles Crawford added 10.

 

Aubrey 63, Howe 54

AUBREY — Aubrey remained unbeaten, defeating Howe at home.

Bry-Len Williams, Jevon Saylor and Michael Page all scored 10 points for the Chaparrals (3-0).

 

Sanger 68, Pilot Point 28

PILOT POINT — Cody Howard led Sanger with 15 points in a win over Pilot Point.

Drew Lyons and Tyler Roelofs each scored 12 points for the Indians, who improved to 4-1 on the season.

 

Frisco Centennial 43, Lake Dallas 41

CORINTH — Lake Dallas fell to 1-3 after losing to Frisco Centennial at home.

Lorren Bassett and Dawn Giovanni each scored 10 points for the Falcons, while Kaleb Wright scored seven.

 

Ponder 48, Bonham 45

BONHAM — Ponder got 17 points from Clay Morgan in a win against Bonham.

Josh Peterson added 10 points for the Lions (6-3), and Micah Broadstreet had eight.

 

Girls

Argyle 39, Denton 15

ARGYLE — Delaney Sain scored 11 points to lead Argyle past Denton.

The Lady Eagles outscored Denton 28-10 in the second half to pull away, helping them improve to 9-1 on the season.

 

Sanger 50, Ponder 43

PONDER — Alie Millican scored 13 points to lead Sanger past Ponder.

Natalie Castillo and Morgan Turkoly each scored 10 points for the Lady Indians (7-3).

For Ponder, Maddison Stout scored 13 points, Shayla Cozart had 12 and Kailey Harper had seven.

 

Guyer 44, Aubrey 16

AUBREY — Quamese Moss scored 18 points to help Guyer remain undefeated with a win against Aubrey.

Bre Clay-Baker scored 10 points for the Lady Wildcats (7-0) and Bre Wickware had eight.

For Aubrey, Kendyl Wright led with 12 points.

 

Frisco Wakeland 58, Ryan 56

Despite Mariah Young’s 18-point effort, the Ryan Lady Raiders fell to Frisco Wakeland.

Danielle Richardson was also in double figures for Ryan (5-7) with 11 points, while Morgan Davis and Ashtyn Lovett each had seven points.

 

Krum 49, Alvord 26

KRUM — Rachel Wallace and Julia Schmaltz each scored 14 points to lead Krum against Alvord.

Diamond Martinez added nine points for the Lady Cats (7-1).

“We played well defensively, and we got the rebounds we needed,” Krum head coach Lana Degelia said.
