Basketball roundup: Ryan splits pair at tournament

THE COLONY — The Ryan Raiders fell 60-25 to Pearland in The Colony tournament Saturday night.

Montarius Banks led Ryan with eight points. Xavier Gray scored six points for Ryan (12-5) and Gilbert Jackson added five.

 

Ryan 52, Garland Naaman Forest 46

THE COLONY — Jackson scored 21 points to lead Ryan over Garland Naaman Forest in The Colony tournament.

Banks also was in double digits for the Raiders with 13 points, and Tyrone Williams added six.

 

Sanger 64, Tuscola Jim Ned 58

FORT WORTH — Tanner Thomas scored 15 point to lead Sanger to a victory over Tuscola Jim Ned in the Whataburger Tournament.

Jake Stastny also was in double digits for the Indians (9-10) with 13 points, and Brennan Bloom had 12 points.

 

Liberty Christian 56, Ponder 32

FORT WORTH — Austin Freet scored 17 points to lead Liberty Christian over Ponder in the Whataburger Tournament.

Wes Hill and Daniel Fife each scored 12 points for the Warriors.

With the loss, Ponder fell to 16-8 on the season. Clay Morgan, who won the All-Tournament Award, led the Lions with 15 points and Brady Anderson added seven.

 

Ponder 50, Clarksville 49

FORT WORTH — Clay Morgan led the Ponder Lions with 25 points in a win over Clarksville in the Whataburger Tournament.

Josh Peterson added nine points for Ponder.

 

Aubrey 56, Van Alstyne 53

SHERMAN — Brylen Williams led Aubrey with 19 points in a victory over Van Alstyne in the Sherman tournament, improving the Chaparrals to 14-4 on the season.

Jevon Saylor also was in double digits for Aubrey with 16 points, while Michael Paige scored eight.

Liberty Christian 55, Saginaw 42

SAGINAW — Rayvon Christian scored 26 points to lead Liberty Christian to a victory over Saginaw in the third-place game at the Whataburger Tournament.

Rebekah Hand scored 11 points for Liberty (11-11).

 

Ponder 45, Paris 33

PROSPER — Madison Stout led the Ponder Lady Lions with 24 points in a victory over Paris in the Prosper tournament.

Emily Nicholson scored eight points for Ponder (11-13) and Shayla Cozart added five.

 

Ponder 42, Paris North Lamar 27

PROSPER — Madison Stout scored 14 points to lead Ponder over Paris North Lamar in the Prosper tournament.

Shayla Cozart added 12 points for the Lady Lions.

 

Krum 36, Prosper 31

PROSPER — Julia Smaltz and Rachel Wallace led the Krum Lady Cats (16-4) with 14 points apiece in the Prosper tournament.

Julia Smaltz collected 10 rebounds in the game and Allison Beck scored six points for Krum.

 

Krum 67, Garland Naaman Forest 56

PROSPER — Smaltz and Wallace led Krum with 16 and 15 points, respectively, in a win over Garland Naaman Forest.

Diamond Martinez also was in double digits for Krum with 11 points.
