Basketball: Lewisville nips Ryan in overtime

LEWISVILLE — The Ryan boys opened District 5-5A play with a 43-42 overtime loss to Lewisville on Friday night.

In the extra period, Ryan’s Gilbert Jackson spun, scored and was fouled to put Ryan up by one point. Lewisville scored with 4.3 seconds left off an inbounds play for the game-winning basket.

Jackson scored a team-high 19 points, and Montarius Banks scored 11 for the Raiders (13-7).

Ryan led by 10 points at halftime and carried a four-point lead into the fourth quarter.


Lady Raiders move to 2-1 in district

LEWISVILLE — Behind point guard Teana Ogden’s 22 points, the Ryan girls escaped Lewisville with a 41-37 victory Friday night. The win gives Ryan back-to-back victories in District 5-5A play.

Ogden was the only player for Ryan (11-13, 2-1 district) to score in double figures. Carissa Sanders added eight points and Danielle Richardson had seven.
