Girls soccer roundup: Stephenville defeats Lady Broncos

Despite many chances at the goal, Denton could not capitalize and fell to Stephenville 2-1.

In the 39th minute of the first half, Kyla Petrie found Alana Burns inside the penalty box, and Alana scored tying it at 1-1 going into halftime. Stephenville scored the game-winner with eight minutes left, dropping the Lady Broncos to 1-3 on the season.


Guyer 2, Wylie 1

FRISCO — After two back-to-back goals from Guyer and goalie Mikayla Renfroe only allowing one goal, the Lady Wildcats defeated Wylie 2-1 in the Frisco Heritage tournament.

The Lady Wildcats’ first goal came three minutes into the first half as Hannah Alspach beat three defenders to score off an assist from Gairy Natividad. Forty-five seconds later, Guyer recorded its second goal as Telia Young scored off of a corner kick, with Kaitlyn Caro getting credit for the assist. Wylie scored its only goal with five minutes left.

The Lady Wildcats are 9-0 on the season and have only given up two goals in those nine games.


Late Thursday

Argyle 5, Saginaw JV 0

SAGINAW — Kylee Harper, Hannah Neece, Cassie Hargroves, Kenza Grelard and Allyson Book all scored to give the Argyle Lady Eagles a 5-0 victory over Saginaw’s JV team in the X-Town Shootout.
