Basketball: Ponder boys start playoffs tonight

After a first-round bye in the Class 2A boys basketball playoffs, the Ponder Lions will begin its postseason trek tonight.

Ponder (26-8) faces Sunnyvale at 7 p.m. at Prosper in the 2A Region II area round of the playoffs. The Lions earned the District 9-2A title, giving the Lions a bye during the bi-district round of the playoffs.

Sunnyvale is coming off a 50-39 win against Howe in the opening round. The winner of tonight’s matchup will face either Whitesboro or Peaster in the regional quarterfinals.

Liberty Christian vs. Laredo St. Augustine, College Station High School, 8:30 p.m
