Aubrey’s Shelby Lyle led a fourth-quarter rally Saturday to lead the North Central Texas Academy Lady Pioneers to the TAPPS 1A state basketball championship.

North Central Texas Academy trailed Selma River City Believers 25-17 heading into the final quarter when Lyle, a senior, returned from an earlier injury to score seven points and lead the Lady Pioneers to a 35-28 victory.

Lyle, who played for Aubrey High as a freshman, played her sophomore and junior seasons at Selwyn Preparatory School before transferring to North Central Texas Academy in Granbury for her senior season.

The Lady Pioneers finished the season with a 27-3 record and were 10-0 in district play. Lyle, the district MVP, averaged 23 points, eight rebounds and five steals a game during the 2012-13 season.
