The Guyer Lady Wildcats, the Class 4A state champions, will be honored Monday afternoon in a ceremony at Guyer’s main gymnasium. The rally will feature performances by the Guyer cheerleaders, band and drill team as well as recognitions from state, local and school officials.

Guyer defeated Highland Park 2-1 in the 4A final, ending the Lady Scots’ 49-game unbeaten streak. Junior forward Hannah Alspach, who scored the game-winning goal, was named the state tournament MVP.

The Lady Wildcats dominated throughout the season, posting a 28-1 record and finishing on a 19-game winning streak. Guyer clinched the school’s first state championship in a girls sport — and its second overall — by outscoring its opposition 27-6 in the playoffs.

Guyer won its first state championship in December when the football team defeated Georgetown 48-37.
