Football: Argyle’s Hedlund chooses Arkansas

Kicker Cole Hedlund added to Argyle’s prolific 2014 recruiting class when he orally committed to Arkansas on Saturday.

Oral commitments are non-binding. The first day a football national letter of intent can be signed is Feb. 5, 2014.

Hedlund was a Class 3A Associated Press first-team all-state selection in 2011, the same year he broke the national high school record for most field goals made in a season. Hedlund was an honorable mention all-state selection as a junior in 2012.

Hedlund joins Sam Sizelove (Kansas State), Connor Wilson (Kansas State) and Ian Sadler (Texas Tech) as the other Eagles of the class of 2014 to commit to a Football Bowl Subdivision program.

Hedlund is the son of North Texas women’s soccer coach John Hedlund. Cole’s older brother, Chad, is a sophomore kicker at Wake Forest.
