Volleyball roundup: Pilot Point splits matches with Callisburg, Aubrey

AUBREY — Pilot Point split a pair of matches with Callisburg and Aubrey on Tuesday. The Lady Cats were swept by Callisburg 25-11, 25-22, 25-17, before defeating the host Lady Chaps 25-18, 25-22, 28-30, 23-25, 16-14.

In Pilot Point’s match against the Lady Chaps, Kirby Smith tallied six kills and seven digs, while Ashton Ritchie added five kills, seven digs and two blocks.

Pilot Point (1-1) will play at the Ryan Kickoff Classic on Thursday. Aubrey will be at the Collin County Spikefest.

 

Lady Raiders fall to Frisco

Ryan opened its season with a 25-15, 25-12, 25-21 loss to Frisco.

Susanna Strange led the Lady Raiders with eight kills. Kassie Torres was the team leader in digs with eight. Shanna Daniels and Halle Evans tied for the team lead with nine assists apiece.

Ryan will face Fort Worth Trimble Tech at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in its Kickoff Classic.

 

Sanger wins season opener

SANGER — Sanger defeated Celina 25-21, 13-25, 25-17, 23-25, 15-10 to start the season.

Morgan Turkoly led the Lady Indians with 15 kills and Kayla Askey added nine kills for Sanger.

Sanger will play in the Van tournament on Friday.

 

Lady Falcons prevail in five

KENNEDALE — Lake Dallas won its season opener 20-25, 25-15, 25-22, 14-25, 15-11 over Kennedale.

Caroline Chapman had nine kills, 17 aces and 10 digs for the Lady Falcons, and Kambrie Gossett had eight kills, four aces and 12 digs.

Lake Dallas will play in the Ryan Kickoff Classic at 9 a.m. Friday.

 

Ponder rallies past Collinsville

PONDER -- The Ponder Lady Lions dropped the first set and then rallied for three straight wins to defeat Collinsville 19-25. 25-22, 25-18, 25-17.

Tori Alexander led the Lady Lions with 8 kills and 6 solo blocks. Meredith Vedral added 3 kills and Emily Summerlin scored on two kills. As libero, Ashley Reames led the defensive efforts with 7 digs and 2 back row kills. Shleby Greggerson led the serving attack with 7 aces.
