Volleyball: Playoff road continues

Today marks a three-day stretch during which four area volleyball teams will try to prolong their season by another week.

Argyle (30-9) continues its quest to make the Class 3A state tournament tonight when it faces Nevada Community in the 3A Region II area round. The match is set for 7 p.m. at Prosper. The winner of the contest will face Decatur or Bonham in the regional quarterfinals.

Sanger (27-11) could earn its spot in the 3A Region II quarterfinals with a win over Melissa at 7 tonight at Frisco Heritage. The winner takes on Celina or Princeton.

Pilot Point (20-13) is coming off a sweep of Pottsboro and looks to carry that momentum into tonight’s Class 2A Region II area match against Godley. The match is at 7 p.m. at Trophy Club Nelson, with the winner advancing to face Brock or Gunter.

In TAPPS action, Calvary moved a step closer to defending its Class 2A state championship with a win over Austin Hill Country Christian. The Lady Lions will face Rockwall Heritage Christian at 1 p.m. in the state semifinals in Corsicana.
