Basketball roundup: Guyer splits pair at tourney

KELLER — The Guyer Wildcats split a pair of games Saturday in the Keller Timber Creek tournament, beating Wolfforth Frenship 52-51 before falling to Frisco Centennial 37-33.

Sean Choate led Guyer (3-2) in scoring in each of the games, netting 18 points in the victory and 11 points in the defeat. Zack Garza added 13 points against Frenship, while three players each had six points in the second game.

The Wildcats will play at Dallas Kimball at 8 p.m. Tuesday.



Burkburnett 46, Denton 35

FORT WORTH — April Pena led the Lady Broncos with 13 points as Denton defeated Burkburnett 46-35 to claim fifth place in the Fort Worth Brewer tournament.

Denton improved to 6-2 and will host Argyle at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.


Liberty Christian 64, Alvord 42

ARGYLE — The Hand sisters combined for 45 points to help lead Liberty Christian past Alvord.

Rebekah Hand led the Lady Warriors (8-3) with 24 points while Hannah Hand scored 21. Alexis Abbott had 12 points for Liberty Christian.

The Lady Warriors will host Ryan at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.


Dallas Wilson 43, Aubrey 37 (OT)

DALLAS — The Aubrey Lady Chaps rallied in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but they eventually dropped a decision to Dallas Woodrow Wilson on the road.

Kendyl Wright had 21 points to lead Aubrey (4-4), which plays at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Irving Uplift North Hills Prep.
