Basketball roundup: Lady Eagles move to 20-1

ARGYLE — The Argyle girls continued their remarkable start to the season with a 49-31 victory over Plano Prestonwood on Tuesday.

Argyle, which recently won the Whataburger Tournament for the second straight year, has won 20 of 21 games this season.

Delaney Sain scored a game-high 18 points, while Vivian Gray added 12 points and Olivia Gray scored five for Argyle.

 

Millsap 42, Ponder 37

MILLSAP — Ponder hung around with Millsap, but the Lady Lions were unable to pick up their first District 9-2A win.

Shaina Owens scored a team-high 12 points while Macie Simpson tallied eight points in the loss for Ponder (3-16, 0-4).

The Lady Lions led by one point at halftime, but Millsap outscored Ponder by six points in the second half.

 

Boys

Coppell 64, Guyer 56

Josh Jordan’s 18 points and 11 rebounds weren’t enough as Coppell overpowered Guyer in a 64-56 decision.

Guyer carried a three-point lead into the second half, but the Wildcats (8-7) couldn’t hold off the Class 5A team.

Kason Kilgore added 10 points while Sean Chote scored nine in the loss.

 

Aubrey 46, Anna 37

AUBREY — Aubrey won its final game of the calendar year with a 46-37 decision against Anna.

Michael Page scored a team-high 13 points for Aubrey. Drew Davis notched eight points and eight rebounds, while Cole Cannon had six points and six assists in the victory for the Chaparrals (9-8).

 

Ponder 69, Millsap 49

Clay Morgan and Brady Anderson helped Ponder pick up its first District 9-2A win with a 69-49 triumph over Millsap.

Morgan scored a game-high 25 points, while Anderson chipped in with 19 points for the Lions (15-7, 1-1 district).

Ponder outscored Millsap (1-1 in district) by 14 points in the two middle quarters of the contest.
