Soccer: Playoffs begin today for four area teams

The Guyer Lady Wildcats will begin their defense of the Class 4A state championship tonight when the UIL state playoffs get underway.

Three other Denton-area teams — Guyer and Denton boys and Lake Dallas girls — will also be in action today.

The Lady Wildcats (11-2-3) will meet the Azle Lady Hornets at 5:30 p.m. at Saginaw Chisholm Trail High School in a Region I bi-district game, with the winner advancing to the meet Wichita Falls Hirschi in the area round.

The Lake Dallas Lady Falcons (11-7-5) will meet Boswell at 7 p.m. at Southlake Carroll’s Dragon Stadium with the winner of this b-district contest advancing to face Wichita Falls in the area round.

In a boys bi-district game, the Guyer Wildcats (9-11-2) will face Aledo at Northwest ISD Stadium at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to play Wichita Falls in the area round.

The Denton Broncos (8-8-5) faces Saginaw at 6 p.m. at Flower Mound High School with the winner advancing to meet Wichita Falls Hirschi in the area round.
