Softball roundup: Lady Broncos beat Rider 4-3

Allie Shelton capped off a three-run rally in the seventh inning Friday night with a walk-off double as Denton defeated Wichita Falls Rider 4-3.

Natasha Kissell (6-16) earned the win on the mound for the Broncos. Shelton had two doubles in the game, and Kissell, Courtnie Walker and Jordan McLaren each added one.

Denton (6-16, 2-6 District 5-4A) plays at Trophy Club Byron Nelson at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.


Argyle 17, Aubrey 1 (5)

AUBREY — Argyle scored eight runs in the second inning, leading to a run-rule victory over Aubrey.

Alyssa Bruton claimed the win for the Eagles, striking out nine hitters in five innings. She also went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Adilen Gonzalez had four RBIs and Kate Weaver added two more.

Argyle will play host to Celina at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, while the Lady Chaps will play at Carrollton Ranchview, also at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.


Ponder 23, Paradise 6 (4)

PARADISE — Ponder pushed nine runs across the plate in the first inning en route to a big win over Paradise in District 9-2A action.

Jessica Orozco had plenty of run support in earning the win for the Lions (12-9, 7-0 district), adding a home run to help her own cause. Madison Welch had a double.

Ponder will play host to Brock at 4 p.m. Monday.


Pilot Point 4, Sunnyvale 0

SUNNYVALE — Preslee Gallaway struck out 11 batters and added a two-run home run in the final inning as Pilot Point escaped Sunnyvale with a 7-0 record in District 12-2A.

Gallaway allowed five hits in her seven innings on the mound and walked none. At the plate, Hydeia Chancellor went 3-for-4 and Natalie Larson was 2-for-4.

The Lady Cats will play at home against Leonard at 6:45 p.m. Monday.
