Softball/baseball roundup: Lady Falcons blank Denton; Ryan falls to Marcus

CORINTH — Leading 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, Lake Dallas erupted for eight runs in the frame to earn a 10-0 run-rule victory over Denton Friday.

Falcons pitcher Chrisa Head earned the win, allowing just two hits in the shutout. She also went 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and a home run. Amadi Taylor added two triples and Macey Bauman walked three times.

Natasha Kissell took the loss for the Broncos, who host Guyer at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lake Dallas (12-13, 3-7 District 5-4A) will play at Trophy Club Byron Nelson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Flower Mound Marcus 8, Ryan 1

Flower Mound Marcus jumped on Ryan pitcher Danielle Leeds early, and the Marauders ran away with a District 5-5A win in Denton.

Leeds fell to 3-3 with the loss. She gave up just three hits and zero earned runs, but errors led to five Marcus runs in her 2/3 innings pitched. Carol Raabe, who replaced Leeds on the mound, accounted for the Raiders’ (8-13, 0-6 district) only run with a first-inning homer.

Ryan will host Hebron at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

CADDO MILLS — After errors allowed Caddo Mills to take a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning, Allison Strittmatter blasted a two-run home run in the next frame to give Pilot Point pitcher Preslee Gallaway all the offensive help she would need.

Gallaway fanned eight batters while allowing four hits and no earned runs in seven innings. Strittmatter had two of Pilot Point’s five hits, including a double.

The Lady Cats (9-0 District 12-2A) will host Gunter at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.

Liberty Christian 15, Plano John Paul II 5 (5)

ARGYLE — Eight Liberty Christian batters tallied multiple hits as the Warriors defeated Plano John Paul II in five innings on Friday.

Connor McMann claimed the win for Liberty, allowing just one earned run on six hits. McMann added a double, a triple and two RBIs offensively, while Cole Blaylock was 3 for 4 with three RBIs.

The Warriors host Fort Worth Christian today at noon.

FRISCO — The Chaparrals piled up 12 hits and pitcher Noah Vaughn struck out seven batters as Aubrey topped Frisco Lone Star.

Vaughn gave up four hits and walked five in the complete-game victory, adding a 2-for-4 day at the plate. The top five batters in Aubrey’s lineup each gathered two hits, including Connor Torbert with a double and leadoff man Cole Cannon with a triple.

The Chaps play at Bridgeport at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

PONDER — Collin Knight pitched a shutout for Ponder while striking out five as the Lions defeated Boyd.

Knight was also 2 for 2 at the plate with a team-high two RBIs. Cole Hudson was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Shane Scott and Carson Knight each scored twice.

Ponder plays at Peaster at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
